Winows Xp Gos To Safemode And Freezes

ok i just installed windows xp pro. i installed halflife and when i run the game it seems to be fine until i join a game. when i join the game my computer immediatly goes to safemode or something monitor light flashes like its not connected. i don't know wat the problem is plz help.

i am on amdtbird 900

vid card ati radeon ddr 64meg vivo
256 megs of pc133 ram
not sure of anything else needed to know

You would have to physically reboot to get into safe mode. What probably is happening, is video display is being altered/corrupted. Make sure you have the latest patch of the game and the most up to date drivers for your video card.
