Reinstall of XP and no sound

I just recently reinstalled XP on my computer, though for some reason when I installed it it came with no drivers, nothing on my desktop, and nearly no programs, no microsoft Word, pretty much just accesories and games. Anyway, I can deal with that but for some reason I am getting no sound, so I download the sound drivers and I restart and I still get no sound, If I go to the sound and audio devices in control panel all of the options are greyed out and it says no audio device, so I check and the power is on and everything is connected just like it was before reinstall. I go to to the device manager and the whole list is blank there is nothing there.

So that is where I am stuck Windows is not detecting my speakers.
I am using

I am using Windows XP HE 2003 SP1
I have Logitech Speakers but the CD that Came with my comp with drivers on it and stuff had Creative sound drivers on it, I couldnot find the drivers for my speakers on the logitech website (LogitechZ-560 it says no software for this product)
My computer is an Alienware and it has a CD called "Master CD" and when I put it in I have to select what I want to open it with, so I opened it using explorer and found the sound drivers it had and installed them

Hello,

I also had this problem when I reinstalled. You can download these sound drivers from Realtek. Just click on this link: http://www.softwarepatch.com/utilities/ac97.html
Hope it helps!

I was more concerned that Device Manager showed no entries, it controls plug and play, and as the article says is a core programe of the system. Make a system restore point before following the instructions that way you can correct any errors.
Hope this helps
