Hi Barbara,
I need some more help from the Sound Queen! My sound is great, but I am trying to help my little brother fix his computer. I attached his Everest Stats below. The problem is that when he tries to play any sound -- it sounds more like a helicopter of static or tut tut tut tut tut, if that makes any sense. Sometimes he can pick out strands of whatever he is trying to listen to, but not really. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Jenn

Hi, I really hope you can help me out....

I have a problem with my sound recording. The sound driver I have on my computer is 'Realtek HD Audio Manager', but it doesnt have any recording properties or micrphone boost options which i need. ( which I thought was pretty standard stuff )
And it will only record the left channel.
Is there any other audio manager I can install which will give me the full range of options so I can record sound properly? Or is it simply a matter of the soundcard not being able to do this?

my motherboard is; Gigabyte technology M61SME -S2 x.x with Realtek HD audio output

Hello all,

I have recently salvaged an old machine that my mother in law was binning so that I could set it up for my daughter to play a few games on. It was was riddled with viruses so I have reformatted it and installed XP but I now don't have sound. My Multimedia Audio Controller seems to be absent.

I've done a Belarc and an Everest report but how do I set about interpreting these in order ascertain what driver I need to download?

Report shows a sound card and onboard sound, you should have 2 sets of audio plugs, one on I/O plate and one in expansion slot - test them both

Not too sure on this one, but go here to Gigabyte and download the manual, there is an option for an addition to the HD audio, but it shows how to setup the audio, do you have the latest driver

Plugging into either set of plugs produces the same scratchy, skippy, garbled sound.
