Try installing the Realtek driver again, then check Sounds and audio, if it does not install then it may be disabled and will need to check the BIOS

Multimedia Audio Controller.
Hi there. recently i hav formatted and reinstalled windows xp to one of my friends pc. but i dont have the driver for multimedia audio controller. when i used the belarc advisor it gives the following information.
O/S:
Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 (build 2600)

Your Intel D865GVHZ has Realtek AC'97 audio, go here http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/...&GetDown=false
download the (Excutable file) save to desktop, double click to install
The site is slow
Set a System Restore Point before installing just in case
