The MSI MS-6547 has realtek AC'97 audio, go here http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/...&GetDown=false

download the (Executable file) save to desktop, double click to install

The site is slow

Set a System Restore Point before installing just in case

Hope this helps

Dear BookWorm,
I too am having trouble finding the right driver for my Multimedia Audio Controller. I'm not sure why the sound went out, a virus maybe? Anyways, there's no sound, and when I go in the device manager it has an exclamation point next to the MAC (Multi. Audio Cont.). I used the Belarc Advisor, but it didn't list my sound card under the multimedia devices. It only listed the Pinnacle Video capture card, which was install long ago and never caused problems. My computer is custom built with a sound card built into the motherboard. Below are the specs I got from Belarc:

System Model
Matsonic MS8328E 1.0
Enclosure Type: Desktop

Main Circuit Board b
Board: Matsonic MS8328E 1.0
Bus Clock: 100 megahertz
BIOS: American Megatrends Inc. 07.00T 04/02/01

Drives
290.05 Gigabytes Usable Hard Drive Capacity
176.03 Gigabytes Hard Drive Free Space
LITE-ON DVDRW SHW-160P6S [CD-ROM drive]
NEC CD-ROM DRIVE:289
3.5" format removeable media [Floppy drive]
IOMEGA ZIP 100 [Hard drive] (100 MB) -- drive 1
Seagate External Drive USB Device [Hard drive] (250.06 GB) -- drive 2
WDC WD400BB-75DEA0 [Hard drive] (40.00 GB) -- drive 0, s/n WD-WMAD1D218879, rev 05.03E05, SMART Status: Healthy

Controllers

hi all,
new to this, and wondering if i have posted in the right place. i have similar problem with alot of ppl in here. i re-formatted my pc, its running on windows xp home edition, my pc is a hp pavillion 742.uk model with ac97 audio driver. before i formatted it, the sound works fine, ie in msn messengers, there was sound and vision, but now only vision and no sound, i have read alot of the advise in here and alot mentioned about modem #0 line playback and modem #0 line recording, these were available before the re-format, but soon after, no longer available apart from realtek ac97 audio. hence my speaker dont work, but aprt from that the sound for mp3, movies etc are fine, i tried downloading the updates from realtek but without any success.

please help in anyway u can!

It's not giveing he motherboard, get Everest http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/...-Edition.shtml

copy and paste the My Computer Summary section.

But check this out
Check Control Panel/ Sound & Audio Devices/ Properties/ Audio tab/ Sound Playback click on down arrow and check that the correct audio is selected. Typically the problem will be they something like "modem line 0 playback" might have been substituted for the proper audio device.

Hope this helps

When i click to reinstall it says to insert disk. can i download this driver somewhere? i went to belarc. this is what it says.

System Service Tag: 4GHWM71 (support for this PC)
Chassis Serial Number: 4GHWM71
