Last December 15, we had DSL connected, and one of my older computers' LAN cards broke down somehow. So I asked my dad to have it looked into and repaired if possible. When the unit was brought back home, I noticed there was no sound! I have no idea how it happened. This is a 2nd hand computer so I don't have the motherboard installer CD, and couldn't install the sound software thingy myself. I couldn't make sense of the previous posts, much to my dismay x_x so I couldn't find the solution by myself. T.T

Here's some info from Belarc: (I only posted the parts that I think would give important info)

The report shows 2 audio adapters on your system, Realtek High Definition (onboard) and Creative Audigy LS ( a sound card?)

Sony list the Realtek High Definition as onboard sound, see here http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu...eType=Original

Do you have 2 sets of radio jacks, one near keyboard + mouse sockets and one in an exspansion slot lower down the tower.

Does Device Manager show both these in Sounds, video & game controllers.

you must use one or the other, not both, look at this

Check Control Panel/ Sound & Audio Devices/ Properties/ Audio tab/ Sound Playback click on down arrow and check that the correct audio is selected. Typically the problem will be they something like "modem line 0 playback" might have been substituted for the proper audio device.

what is set for your audio

Hope this helps

no audio driver shown, can you look under the notebook, model number and serial number, in fact anything it shows. I suspect that the modem driver controls sound. Information from report shows your model as a V1100 series. get back with info

Cheers

Site for Realtek's Audio Drivers

http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=8&PFid=14&Level=3 &Conn=2

Lists both:

AC'97 Audio Codecs
High Definition Audio Codecs

Under Software for both you'll find the latest drivers.

Note: It's better to tell others what is actually listed as installed and running (or not running) under your device manager's section under "Sound, video and game controllers" rather than just listing your hardware. (You can get to device manager by right-clicking on your 'computer' icon and selecting manage.)
