Multimedia audio controller

I have reinstalled Windows XP Pro on my Sharp laptop. Having a problem with installing the sound driver for the SIS M650 Chipset. The relevant driver is the SIS 7012 Audio Controller. The installation exits with error message.

An error occured during the installation of the device.

The name is already in use as either a service name or a sevice display name.

Does anyone know of solution to this problem?

Is your XP upto date? IE SP2, and all the revelevant updates concerning your drivers? If not, update them.

Multimedia Audio Controller is messed up. And now i dont have sound coming out of my comp. Do you know how to get it back???

G'day guys. I have a similar problem with the multimedia audio controller, after I formatted the PC, only that i have the needed drivers, both on cd and downloaded from the net. The problem is that I can't install them and I always specify their location. My motherboard is ASUS P4S800-MX.

I have recently reformatted my friends computer, and after installing Win XP intergrated SP2, I tried using this program called Aida32 to see what type name of his motherboard, but apparently there was no name for this Motherboard. I typed in the Motherboard ID, and it came out to be Foxconn 661mo3-g. I tried to find the drivers for it, but having problems. Can anyone help me where I can get it or just the direction for it. It's making me upset!

I TOO have the same yellow exclamation mark on my multimedia audio controller. i hve had xp reinstalled and dont know what i have to download to rectify. can yopu please help bookworm..

Can you look for a sticker on the back of the tower it will start S/N and post the numbers please

i have checked this at the packard bell support site but comes up invalid, i also checked it at the NEC website and it came up with limited information about my comp.

yep, i have already given that a go, it says the serial is not found in its proper location and to check the stick, the serial i gave is correct as belarc finds it also, and it is found on the nec website as a packard bell imedia M857 which is my comp. if i put the serial in the search box it says invalid, i'm baffled
