Multimedia audio controller

I need help with my multimedia audio controller. My computer is custom made. These are the details from Berleac advisor:

Are your audio jacks situated near to your mouse and keyboard socket at the top of the tower, or are they lower down the tower, let me know

It looks like you have a sound card, try the Creative labs driver from Dell in the link I provided

Don't forget the Restore Point

ive got a problem with my multimedia audio controller too. every time i start my computer, it finds the controller as 'new hardware' and i end up not being able to install it. this happened after i reinstalled my computer. i went into the device manager and ended up with a big yellow question mark over it. i got the balark advisor and this is what it came out with.

SET A SYSTEM RESTORE POINT BEFORE INSTALLING JUST IN CASE

that board has Realtek AC'97 audio go here to Realtek http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/...&GetDown=false

download the (Excution file) save to desktop, double click to install

Set a System Restore Point before installing just in case

Then go here to Asus http://support.asus.com.tw/download/...Language=en-us

top left Input Model to Search / type P4S533-MX / P4S533-MX / Audio

just one other thing...you wouldnt happen to know what tpye of RAM i have do you, only i want to upgrade but it keeps coming up with different types and stuff...

This problem seems to be a bit more common than I thought. I too am having issues with my sound. I recently changed over from XP home to XP pro SP2 and after installing Pro I lost audio. I figured no problem, I'll go to device manager and update the drivers and everything will be fine like it was when I had to reinstall Home. Now here is my problem;

When I had windows search for the drivers it downloaded the Vinyl AC' 97 codec combo driver (WDM). Now my computer restarts immediately after windows loads. To avoid this I booted in safe mode and disabled the driver. If I uninstall the driver Windows will see the new hardware, and reinstall it, and I go back to having it restart on me.
Before it downloads the driver, device manager lists a yellow question mark labeled Multimedia Audio Controller, that has a yellow icon next two it with an exclamation in it. I've been looking around these forums, and some others online trying to find a solution, if anyone can help me it would be much appreciated.

Take a look here at MSI, 2 boards, one with SiS650 chipset and 1 with SiS651, they both have 184-pin DDR Dimm you need too check the Chipset on the board.
SiS650 - DDR 266/PC133
SiS651 - DDR 333/DDR266/DDR200 and PC133/100

it may give the board name, copy and paste th My Computer/Summary section.
In the meantime check this, as the boards I looked at had a voice modem on the board
Check Control Panel/ Sound & Audio Devices/ Properties/ Audio tab/ Sound Playback click on down arrow and check that the correct audio is selected. Typically the problem will be they something like "modem line 0 playback" might have been substituted for the proper audio device.
