Question Sound Driver problems

I have a intergrated soundcard on my mobo and I had another one installed separatly. I took the other one out of my computer and I re-installed windows xp. Now, when I play a sound, it tells me that the bad sound drivers are installed. I checked and they weren't the ones for my sound card. I have a cd that came with my sound card but it doesn't seem to install. Can someone help please? Thanks

Go to > start - control panel - sounds and devices - hardware - double click on your card - driver. Have the newest driver downloaded from the manufacturers website.

My question would be did you disable the Mobo onboard sound in the Bios? If not, XP will try to load all drivers for both. Needless to say that would cause a major sound problem.

If you did, then what beeboy said is correct, go the manufacture of your sound card and download the lastest drivers for XP.

The sound drivers that are installed right now aren't the right ones. It won't let me uninstall them nor update them. My mobo is ECS K7VTA3 and the sound drivers that are installed right now are " Legacy Audio Drivers ".

LillysDaddy: No I didn't disable the onboard soundcard in the bios. Is it possible that it disabled itself when I installed the other soundcard?

You will have to do it as "administrator". Yes you need to disable the sound card in bios. Press "delete" or F6 as the machine boots to access bios.

Yes, that is your problem. You need to go into your bios. When you start up your computer, you need to hit the delete key to enter the bios. You want to select integrated perpherals and in there you will see on board sound. You need to disable that. Just hit escape and use your arrow keys to "save settings on exit"

Make sure you don't change anything else if you have never been in the Bios before. That will help solve the problem your having.

Hope this helps,

Paul

I've got a sound driver problem as well. Rather than spam the forum with more of the same, I thought I'd use this one, since it seems to involve my Mobo sound card. I use the internal sound card, I have installed the drivers, but for some reason, it doesn't detect my microphone. Also, when I use a video recording program called 'Fraps', it doesn't play back any sound. My friend and I are making a mechanima series using Neverwinter nights, and its kind of critical I do the recording since his computer has issues, but without sound, we can't continue. I have attached my dxdiag. Everything else works fine, I just can't record anything. Any thoughts?

Thanks for any help or suggestions.
