Thumbs down Simple Screensaver is KILLING ME!

First off I checked out this forum out at work and I think it is pretty cool,so I got on at home to deal with this problem with the beast it's self. My problem is that my screensaver will not take in a normal setting.I can preview it, but it will not launch otherwise. It used to work fine , I've tried alot of different things, asked a bunch of pocket protecters,emailed- Microsoft,Dell, read about XP....etc nothing works! I'can get it to take in safe mode...so I think some other program is blocking it somehow. Can I turn off/turn on something in msconfig or what PLEASE HELP A MAN IN NEED! Any reply is very much appreciated!

It could be that this screensaver is too graphic intensive for your video card to display. I have had some that wouldn't work also. What screensaver is it?

Only thing I can think of is - are any of the power settings (standby or hibernate) conflicting with screensaver timing? Is it a 3d screensaver? You may have to turn down color and/or hardware acceleration for it to work. Its common knowledge that screensavers, standby, and hibernate are unnecessary and harder on the equipment. But if you are sure you want a screensaver hang around here till the hotshots show up. Your only option may be to repair from the install cd.
