no full screen in xp pro media player 8.0

Hi There;I have no full screen mode in media player 8.0,everthing else works fine.all settings appear to be ok in options,check mark is on enable full screen button.the only thing is the part where software,hardware part is in options is grayed out..Can anyone help me out here.??I tried to upgrade to media player 9,and it didn't work at all,had to restore system..Anyone no how I can get full screen back in media player 8.0? Thanks.

I have Media Player 9. You just go to "View" and select "Full Screen" from the dropdown menu. I thought it was the same in 8.1. I don't remember the earlier versions.
