Server Busy - This action cannot be completed...
I work for a company online where I prepare documents using Word 2003, and then submit them (I am uploading and downloading files from their server). For the past month, everytime I am uploading or downloading, I receive an error message "Server Busy - this action cannot be completed because the other program is busy - ..."
I have dealt with the technicians of the company I work for, who insist that out of over 500 people, I am the only one with this ongoing problem. They insist the problem is not with their server. They asked me to uninstall Word and reinstall it again, and to bring it up to date with patches and updates. They advise that the "server" is referring to Word, which apparently acts as a server in the process of uploading and downloading.
I did the uninstall and reinstall of Word twice. I have run every spyware program that you can name, and found nothing. I run Norton's Antivirus (2005) and it is current. I have run Trend Micro and Nortons and I have no virus or spyware on my computer.
This error box only occurs when I am uploading files in Word. I am running Windows XP, with Service Pack 2 (I tried uninstalling that too and the error is still occuring); I use Norton's Antivirus(tried deactivating that and I still get the error).
I have a P4, 1.6 Ghz with 512 Mg Ram. I am on a cable modem. I have opened up the proper ports for uploading and downloading and have even set my computer as demilitarized. Nothing makes a difference. I have tried setting the firewall on and off without a difference.
When I look at the event viewer, I see the following errors listed:
The server {F3A614DC-ABE0-11D2-A441-00C04F795683} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout. (event No. 10010)
and also
Timeout (30000 milliseconds) waiting for the SymWMI Service service to connect. (event No. 7009)
I have no programming experience and am not an advanced Windows user. Are there any settings I can change to stop this pop-up error, or anything that I can do to make it go away, or am I faced with having to reinstall Windows XP?
Thanks for any help you can give.
