format and reinstall - mission impossible! help! weird circumstances!
Hi,
I'm trying to wipe my system and reinstall from scratch, but have a few problems.
1. I'm using a sony vaio U1 (jap import) that has no internal drives
2. My external firewire cd rom will not work from dos.
3. To reinstall I have to have hardrive partitioned into 2 drives with install files on drive D
4. I only have a 95 full version install disk and a win XP home SP2 upgrade
5. 95 only installs to a FAT system
6. Drive C is NTFS
7. System is so corrupted I can't run XP home disk to do a repair or reinstall
8. Cant FDisk drive C and turn it into FAT because drive D is a logical partition of C. To Fdisk C I have to Fdisk D first. I can't fdisk D because it has my install files coppied to it.
Is there any way in the known world to format my ntfs drive C into a FAT file system so I can start my 95 install?
Please help.
I was thinking of deleting the both partitions, losing my install files to get the file system right, then trying to use a DOS undelete utility to get the install files back. Don't know if this will work because its risky. Any thoughts?
