Folder Windows View

Hi! I have XP and am having a BIG problem where whenever I go to explore a folder it opens up a new window each time! I went to Control Panel>Folder Options and made sure the setting was Open All In The Same Window, but that didn't fix it. System restore didn't help either. ANY help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

This may sound a little strange but it often works.

Open Internet Explorer, go to Tools>Internet Options>Advanced and uncheck "Reuse window for launching shortcuts," click OK.

See if that fixes things.

Sorry this didn't work, but I think I know what the problem is. It is probably the FILE TYPES window in FOLDER OPTIONS. I saw that the actions listed under FOLDER are: Explore, Open. The EXPLORE command is what is opening the second windows. I need to set the options so that when I left click a folder it OPENS the folder, instead of EXPLORING it. Is there a way to reset these FILE TYPES options?

You should be able to set the open command as default, if it is still there. Select the open command and go "set default" and it should fix it. Don't delete them - it does nasty things. Somewhere lurks a Win 98 machine where opening a drive always opens a new window....
If not, do the regedit thing.
