desktop search uninstall?

desktop search uninstall?

xp home sp1
512 mb
197 gig hd
2.40 ghz pentium 4
geforce fx 5200se
????
????
????

anyway..............i think i have got(dont know how) a google desktop search on my desktop....

when i right click on it i get a menu the same as what i get when i right click on a web page, i have been on google and done a search for uninstall and it says goto start/programs/google/google desktop search/uninstall.

but i dont have it in programs.....

i have tried to take it off in display but it just removes the wallpaper under it.

so i aint got a clue what to do, please any help.

Hi .... Try going to the following >> start >>> control panel >>> add and remove programs , Find the google desktop and select to remove , which will uninstall it ...

You can also remove it from the registry but I wouldn't go there unless you are familiar with that area , Try to reinstall the program again and see afterward whether it gets listed in the add and remove programs area , if it does then uninstall it ...

no, didnt work, the google search went onto the task bar, uninstalled it, the one that i have is on top of the wallpaper

Hey ... When you say you have yahoo search as a wallpaper , what do you mean by this ? Or do you mean your home page is yahoo search website , Pls explain ?

hi, its not yahoo search, its just a white background, but when i right click on it it comes up with the same menu as you would get if you were on a web site, and when i click on say, back on the menu it goes to a google search result,
i have google as my home page, so i dont have a clue how it got to be on my desktop.

Hi ... I'm still not really sure what you mean but I think you should download hijackthis and have someone that has experience with hijackthis take a look at your log and see if there is any entery that shouldn't be ... here where you can get HJT from
