XP Driving me crazy!!!

HELP!! XP is totally messed up....I can not figure out what is going on....it's like half of my programs will not work. I am not able to use microsoft fax anymore, I can not view installed programs anymore. I was trying to reinstall from the xp disk, and got this message:

setup library desk.cpl could not be loaded, for function DisplayOcSetupProc could not be found. The specific error code is 0x7e.

Can someone tell me how I can get my xp back in shape, and find a way to fix my fax.

Assuming you have done all the spyware and antivirus scans you could try repairing any corrupt windows files, put your XP cd in the drive, then run sfc /scannow, start>run> (type in) sfc /scannow, note the space between sfc and the /, this will repair any corrupt windows files

it sounds like u must have spyware or a virus
