Unable to Download....ANYTHING?
I suffered a deluge of popups, adware, and who-knows-what recently after leaving the computer alone with the kids for a weekend, and I went on a mad midnight delete-a-thon. Soon thereafter, I discovered that I was no longer able to download any files at all. I can't open movies, play flash games, or download any programs whatsoever.
I checked down/upload speeds at PCPitstop, and they seem normal, but when I do the ActiveX test on the same site, I get the redX regardless of my security settings. I have no firewalls, and no protection enabled, but still I can't download anything! Websites usually load pretty well, with the exception of a few ads, but I can't download any of the content. It's very confusing and frankly crippling.
I've got hijack this, AdAware, and Spybot S&D installed, and my fear is that I deleted something important. What makes it worse is that I don't know where my Restore CD is, so what options are left???
