Problem Opening Dos Programs

I recently have not been able to open two DOS progams that I was able to
open previously. I have had the computer for about 6 months and have been able to open and run the progams up unitl last week. One of the progams is the old window"s card file "cardfile 3.1" and a handicapping program I purchased in 1993. When I try to open the program. I get a message C:\windows\system32\autoexec.nt The system is not suitable for running MS-DOS & Microsoft windows applications. Choose "close" to terminate the application. I called Dell support but they were not much help. I went to the start menu and then run and typed command.com and it would not let me go into the DOS WINDOW. I have tried system restore and it comes back with a message system cannot be restored for a certain date. I have tried several different dates. I would appreciate any help that might be out there.

autoexec.nt, can get corrupted for many reasons. the usuall being some type of malware changing it.
