Windows XP SP2 restarts before loading

Hi There!
I don't know if anyone else has this problem but after about a week of having SP2 installed Windows XP SP2 restarts before loading, it just goes through the boot screen, I can't boot in SafeMode, Repairing doesn't work (it goes through the proccess but it doesn't fix it).
I've tried 3 times now but it always happens.
I've done a google search but haven't found an answer.
Maybe someone here may be able to help.

Some of my system specs
AMD Athlon 2000+ proccessor
256MBRAM + 512MB DDR RAM not sure of the speed
80GB hdd @ 7200rpm
GeForce4 MX 440 AGP 4X 64MB (I've had some problems with this eg the driver on the CD that came with it doesn't work, restarts before loading XP)

I installed XP with a SP1 CD and updated via SP2 update CD and Windows Update both have the same problem.

If I haven't provided enough info please let me know.

hm, reboots during splash screen. usually there is a BSoD, but xp has a habit of flashing faster than the avg person can read. id suggest booting the system up, letting it restart itself and before it hits the splash screen again start hitting F8. if windows realizes it has a problem there will be an option that says do not automatically restart after system failure(or something along those lines). select that, let it continue to boot and see if you get a blue screen with an error msg. (need more info)

I've tried booting in safe mode doesn't work, and no error messages apear it just reboots.
I'm a more Experienced user and I'm currently studying IT but I've tried everything I can think of to fix it (eg repairing, booting in safe mode) NONE of them work.
This isn't a problem at the moment because I have WinXP installed without SP2, so I can actually run my computer.
What I can do though is test out any suggestions on how to fix SP2 is to have SP2 installed on my 2nd hdd.

hey there,
i've been facing similar problems with sp2...i contaced the microsoft support team and they asked me to try out one thing....they asked me to uninstall sp2(in safe mode
if pbl) and reinstall sp2 only in the safe mode...they explained that sp2 is sensitive and has lots of conflicts with device drivers..hence booting in safe mode reduces the errors......i've not tried it as yet but if u haven't already tried,u may try it and lemme know if it works...if u find any other working solution please lemme also know, coz am going through the same problems...i have a similar config except for a ati radeon 9200
graphics card and a intel p4 3ghz processor...
