An .exe opening problem.

Hi,

I have a problem with .exe files on my computer. It started when I wanted to change the icon for an .exe to something more interesting (I like my computer to look nice, heh). I went into 'My Documents' and then on the menu with 'file', 'edit', 'view' etc. I selected 'tools' and then 'Folder Options'. I had changed a lot of icons successfully this way. Anyway, I went to the 'File Types' tab, and looked for .exe in the files. It wasn't there so I clicked 'New' and typed .exe in the prompt. I clicked 'ok' and then tried to set up the exe file's icon. I realised I had done something wrong then cancelled the window, only to now have no .exe files work. It seems that it doesn't know what to use to open the .exe's. I double click one and then it does nothing. I have found some loopholes (such as opening .txt documents to use wordpad etc.) but this is really an annoying problem and I came to this forum hoping you could help me out?

I had a similar issue with my brothers computer.. I found a reg entry that restores the way EXE files are handled.. might work for you..
