XP Activation issue

I need major help. Here is the situation. I have a Compaq computer which came preinstalled with windows XP.
1) I had a virus (Klez I think) which disabled Norton and infected windows and other apps.
2) Ran Mcafee to get rid of virus but windows apps (ie, media player, recovery, etc.) wouldnt work
3) Used the compaq xp cd and performed a repair in which everything seemed to work as it should
4) Once the repair completed I got to the XP welcome screen...and here is my problem.

I click on the profile name to log-in and get a message box saying that I need to activate MS window in order to log-in so I click yes. It goes to desktop with no icons and sits there for a moment and then closes everything and goes back to the welcome screen. This has happened about 50 times. PLEASE HELP!!!!

I recommend that you use your xp disk to restore your computer back to original "out of the box" condition. It's the best way to ensure a reliable OS.

Shouldn't take long and you will be happier, promise.

I second that... A fresh O/S is the best O/S...
