Exclamation Slow laptop, blue error screen, etc.

Okay. My laptop is having a mess o' problems lately. Let's see.

It's slow. Slow to start up, slow to open programs, slow to do anything. I have a hunch that it's either a heating problem (I keep my laptop on my bed. Bad?), a dust problem (again, the bed.), or just general virus problems (although my Norton buddy says I have none.).

Also. Occasionally, as in once or twice every two days, I'll get the blue error screen that says it's shutting down to protect my files. Sometimes, it gives me the message KERNEL_INPAGE_DATA_ERROR (or something like that), sometimes it gives me some message about a process unexpectedly quitting, and sometimes it doesn't give me any real reason as to why it shut down at all.

I have a Dell Insprion 1150 laptop, bought new May 2004. Running on XP Home, last reinstallation being sometime this past April. Usually I have my laptop on my bed, but lately it's been on the carpeted floor, on a book. The bottom usually feels pretty hot.

DINGDINGDING.

Okay. I just plugged in my webcam via USB. 5 seconds later, I get that blue error screen with the message KERNEL_STACK_INPAGE_ERROR.

..Suggestions?

what you can do is install another antivirus a good one is called avast it is free i have been using it for 2 years no trouble but first before you run it shut down nortons.
also download microsofts antispy and see what happens, the meesage you are getting is STOP 0x0000007A KERNAL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR
wHAT IT MEANS IS THIS
This Stop error is the same as 0x77 error the system attempted to read kernal data from virtual memory (the page file) and failed to find the data at the specified memory address. this STOP ERROR can be caused by a variety of problems, including defecctive memory, a malfunctioning hard disk an improperly configured disk controler or cable, corrupted data, or VIRUS INFECTION.
hope this helps you
