HI b4 downloading the driver make a system restore point. Go to >my computer right click>device manager>properties>audio>and go to the driver tab and uninstall the current driver and re boot, if windows comes back and says found new hardware click cancel. Now go to this link and download and install

MPU 401 Compat. MIDI
Multimedia Audio Controller
SiS 7018
SoundBlaster 16 or AWE 32...

don't uninstall anything for now

First are your audio plugs on the I/O plate see here, he's pointing to the I/O plate
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YQzgQ39ovZY

If they are then your audio is Soundmax 5.12.01.3665 go to the asus link below and install

http://support.asus.com.tw/download/...Language=en-us

Installing Drivers

Create a folder for what you are downloading

Example: Audio
Then download the zipped file to that folder

Then download and install Winzip
Go to the folder and right click and click Winzip extract to here

That will automatically make a folder and unzip files to it ( make a note of file path)

Then go to folder and click on Setup file and follow instructions displayed for installation

If no Setup file

1. Expand "Sound, video and game controllers"
2. Right-click the the yellow flagged device ( or audio device Realtek, Soundmax etc ) and choose Update Driver
3. In Windows XP SP2, the Update Wizard will prompt to connect to the Windows Update
4. Select "No, not this time" and click Next
5. Select "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)" and click Next.
6. Select "Search for the best driver in theses locations" and check "Include this location in the search"
7. Click Browse and select the the location of downloaded driver
8. Click OK and click Next
9. Wait while the Wizard installs the software
10. Click Finish.

Set a System Restore Point before installing drivers just in case

How can I thank you Barbara? How about a long distance VIRTUAL HUG? I downloaded installed and unzipped. I went through the list and tried to update each. SoundMax wasn't on the list of drivers, it was a generic term like audio controller or something. Now should I remove the other audio drivers? See list.

No some of them are Windows generic drivers, one to tell that you can install a sound card, if everything ok, just leave it
