Smile Screen Saver

My screen saver which is My picture slideshow doesn't start automatically when I turn my computer on.I have to go in & start it up everey day.I recently went fron Windows Me to Windows XP, I went to a cordless keyboard & mose & I had another PNY graphics card installed. These changes made within a month.Prior to all this my screen saver was working. There must be a setting that got changed somewhere & I can't seem to figure out where to look or what I need to do.
Your help would be appreciated.Thanks....

Go To:

Control Panel > Display > Screen Saver > Settings. Here is where you can make the necessary timing changes.

I have tried this several times but it still doesn't do the trick.
As soon as I restart my computer or shutdown for the night & I start it back up the screen saver doesn't start up.
Thanks for your reply & I'm ready to try another..

Your screen saver may be corrupt. Uninstall it, reboot your computer and then reinstall it.

Where do I go to find this so I can uninstall it.I looked under the add/remove programs & under window components & I don't see nothing there for a screen saver.Forgive me, but I'm new to this computer stuff so it takes me longer to figure out what I'm doing. Thanks for your patience & your help.

I would have to check for sure, but I don't know how compatible ME is with XP. Some programs do not work on both operating systems. Another possibility is that there is not enough RAM on the new video card to handle the slide show program. These programs are very greedy when it comes to sharing resources.

When I first had Windows Xp installed the screen saver worked fine.Somewhere in the installing of the new video card(with more memory), the cordless mouse & keyboard some setting must of got changed & I have tried several different things.

Well sounds to me like you are going to have to fix this problem by process of elimination. Put the old mouse and keyboard back and see if that helps. You can check to see if the drivers on the new card are up to date. New cards do not mean the drivers are the latest as one might think. I'm banking on the keyboard/mouse combination.

Thanks, I'll give this a try & I'll let you know how I made out.I'll look for new updates to the card & try using the old keyboard & mouse. You've been a great help & thanks.I'll keep you posted. It'll take me awhile to accomplish this.

If your screen saver is controlled by the screen saver settings in control panel you can delete and reinstall it. If it is a regular slide show program that mimics a screen saver you need to find the installation software and reinstall it. After you do this you can rebuild your slide show unless you backed it up on a CD or tape drive.

If you can remember back to the last time it worked and then think of what you did to your computer at that time, you will find the reason why the program stopped working.

I don't seem to recall when the last time it was working.I thought of going in to system restore & go back before all these cjhanges were made & see if that would do it.
When Windows Xp was installed the screen saver was there & I just added my own pictures to it.Thanks for your help & I'll check it out..
