Thumbs down sound settings for legacy applications! how?

Hi,
When I used Windows 2000, I could set settings of my sound system so legacy (old DOS programs) could use it,

By the way I've got a new sound card, it was possible to simulate an old one for DOS programs (by setting IRQ, Port, Sound Card Type...),

but I can't find such a thing in Windows XP
is there a way to simulate an old sound device for old DOS games?!

regards,
Amir

XP, unlike earlier Windows versions, does not contain DOS --- what you see before Windows loads is not true DOS, it's DOS emulation. However, this website may help you to overcome the problem: http://www.dosgames.com/xphints.php

I know this, but there was an emulator for old Dos compatible Sound Cards in Windows 2000, but I can't find the emulator in Windows XP.

(Windows 2000 was not DOS based too!)
