Using WinChat

Hi. I want to use winchat to chat with friends over a LAN. The thing is, it doesn't dial any computer even if winchat is started on both computers. Any idea what's wrong?

Check your networking settings and make sure you have administrator privelages over your network. Also, make sure you can use the NetBIOS Messaging service.

services.msc > Messenger Service (make sure that it's on!)

I've checked and Messenger service is started. What do you mean by adminitrator privileges over the network? I'm the administrator of my system certainly, but not of the network.

WinChat requires the services Network DDE and Network DDE DSDM to be started (either set to Automatic or start manually. From my experience WinChat does not start these services for you when it runs.)

I do not think it requires the Messenger service at all.
