generic host process for win 32 services & shutdown by NT/authority system

i am having major problems with the generic host process for win 32 services. a message box appears on log in telling me that a problem has been encountered and do i wish to send error report. i have sent lots of these error reports and am then dirrected to a windows update which i have installed but this is not helping. sometimes a box appears telling me the system is shutting down and to save all work and log off. it tells me that the shutdown is due to NT authority\system and has been caused by DCOM server process launcher service. it happens a lot and is now becoming very annoying. anyone out there help? I am running Windows XP with sp2 on a new laptop.

This sounds very familiar to what the msblaster worm did. Run some scans and download DCOMbobulator to eliminate any DCOM vulnerabilities.

It's a known bug and microsoft has a fix for it. It started after they released SP2. Go to microsoft and look it up - there's a fix for it.
