Missing important files after System Restore
Hi everyone,
Last night I installed Corel Painter IX and Adobe Photoshop CS2 and uninstalled the previous versions of the two programmes (Painter 8 and Photoshop CS). I test ran each programme and they were working perfectly, then I turned my PC.
I turned my computer on again today and was greeted with a black screen saying that the following file was missing or corrupt: c:\windows\system32\config\system
I've had this error about 5 times over the last 2 or 3 years (same computer, God it's slow now), each time it occurs when something's been uninstalled. I fixed the problem and restored the PC to 2 days ago before Painter IX and Photoshop CS2 had been installed.
The PC is working fine now, but the shortcuts for Photoshop and Painter aren't anywhere to be found, but the installed folders are still there. What's even more annoying is that the run files for the programmes aren't in the folders (I checked last night before it all went up the wall and they were there). I can't figure out where they've gone!
Can someone PLEASE help me get these run files back, the two programmes were needed for work and I can't do anything at home until I've got them up and running again!
