Can't install programs

Hi,

I have a problem installing games, generally from cd, but sometimes just off the desktop.

i get this error (i've seen a similar post, with no resolution):
I

Install Shield Wizard
Setup has expierenced a error:
Please do the following:
- Close any running programs
- Empty your temporary folder
- Check your internet connection (Internet-based Setup)

Then try to run the setup again.

Error code: -6005

I am running a rig with these specs:
xp home edition/sp2
athlon 64 3000+
nforce4 ultra
dvd rom
ati x800 xl
30 gig sata drive

If anyone has experienced this problem or has a possible fix, i'd love the help

I'm trying to install Battlefield 2 -- i had it installed once, but i uninstalles it and since that time, i have been getting the above error

thanks

The error code means it was not uninstalled properly, go to your folders and look for it there also do a search of your reg type the name, then run it. delete what you find then do a install you should find now that it works.

Just to add to what Thedon57 advise you after you have search for your Battlefield 2 and deleted everything that show up , I would check your Program Files in the windows explorer area under most likely where your windows is install in ( C drive ) just expand the c drive and look for Program Files , then expand that and look for Battlefield 2 if its there delete it , Also go to the following C:Windows\Prefetch and delete everything thats in this folder , then delete your recycling bin , then restart your computer and try to download Battlefield 2 again
