Reseting screen resolution

I recently bought a new graphics card and when I started up my computer, the screen was at 640x400 so I changed it. Problem was my monitor cant get to that high of resolution so now i have a black screen. The "auto-reset" thing wont work for some reason and I need some major help to get it back working. Thanks in advance.

Use Safe Mode to make necessary adjustments.
Last Known Good Configuration may also be helpful.

if you want my specs to my computer.. they sure are not pretty

AMD Athlon 1ghz (iono the true speed)
128 SDRAM
60gb hard drive
Just inputted a Leadtek Geforce 6600gt into it..

being the blonde i am i didnt do the last known configuration because i was told safe mode always. so yea.. i fixed it scratch everything i said.. my mistake totally.
