Adding Memory Makes XP Re-start?

I was wondering if someone could help me, I have just adding a 256mb DDR (pc2100) stick of memory to my system (The stats of which i will outline below) and when I bootup the system after adding the memory, the PC will go into XP and after all of the programs in the Taskbar have loaded it will Reboot. Is this a common problem with XP or have I missed something in the BIOS which is causing this?

Many Thanks

My System:

AMD 1700 XP+
512 DDR RAM (PC 2100) in 2 256 MB Sticks.
GeForce mx2 400 64MB (DDR)
Windows XP Pro (With Service Pack 1)
Jetway V266A Motherboard.

You can try going to > start > control panel > system > startup & recovery > settings > uncheck auto- restart. If that dos'nt help guess you will have to pull the ram out and try another stick - xp and some motherboards are more sensitive to ram apparently. And you could check and make sure its seated well. Good Luck.

I think that disabling the auto restart in the options helped.

Many thanks again
