Unhappy unable to change background

the previous user of this computer downloaded a so-called antivirus that would not remove a warning meg on the background unless you bought the software. the software was called PS fuard and antivirus gold. it disabled the background select function in teh control panel and i was faced with the warning msg as my background. i looked up the source of the backgound and found that it was an html program saved on windows, so i deleted that into the recycle bin. once the html was deleted the background turned blank and it is blinking all the time. i think windows is still trying to access the html.

i ran adaware, spybot and spysweeper and removed the programs from the computer. however, i am still unable to access the background option. i would select a background to apply, but the blank page just remains on the desk top. any ideas?

thanks for ur thoughts~

Hi do you have the systems disk not windows one but the one that set the colours graphes etc on the motherboard, if you have run that that will reset your background colours. if you have not find out the make of the mitherboard and go to the site you should be able to download them from there.

Hi if you run a program called belarc which you can download from the interner, or everest, they will give you the make and model of your mother board.
I hope this helps you.
