Smile Assigning drive letters

Hi Folks

I've just used Partitition Magic on my work PC (Mesh 2600 with XP pro) to create a new partition for storing data.

The main drive is C:\ I have DVD as D: CD/RW as E: and the new partition was automatically created as F:

Is there any way I can swop the D:\ and F:\ references. I particularly wanted to create a D: drive as I've copied some files that have a reference to the D: drive.

I see that if I can do this then Drive mapper in partition magic will correct any registry error that might occur.

Thanks

Jesper

Yes, you can change the drive letter how ever you want to.... as long as you don't touch the main drive letter.

Right click on my computer, go to Manage -> New panel will open -> Click on Disk Management and then on the right side of the panel you will see all your drive....First change the DVD and CD drive letter to something like drive H of K and then that will free-up drive letter D for you..then you can change the storage drive to drive "D" ......further more... change the DVD and CD drive to desired drive letter.

More detail here if you need it:

Thanks Snow Monkey

Hiya

Thanks for super quick response. I tried that and it worked a treat.
Here's hoping I don't get issues around it.
