Yes, you can change the drive letter how ever you want to.... as long as you don't touch the main drive letter.
Right click on my computer, go to Manage -> New panel will open -> Click on Disk Management and then on the right side of the panel you will see all your drive....First change the DVD and CD drive letter to something like drive H of K and then that will free-up drive letter D for you..then you can change the storage drive to drive "D" ......further more... change the DVD and CD drive to desired drive letter.
