Uninstalling webcam, help?

I've come to the conclusion that my webcam is a main reason I keep getting blue error screens on my laptop. It gives no specific reason why I get the error screen, but it almost always happens within a minute of connecting my webcam. When I restart, I get the "Windows has just recovered from a serious error" message.

I have the suspicion that maybe one or more of the drivers associated with my webcam is screwy. Improperly-installed hardware and whatnot. I'd like to uninstall these drivers, and try reinstalling them. However, upon connecting my webcam for the first time, I installed about 9 or 10 drivers. How am I supposed to know which ones to uninstall, without removing some crucial driver unrelated to the webcam?

And, in the event that I have to wipe my computer and reinstall Windows, I have another problem: I lost the CD that came with the webcam, the one that contains the video and photo programs for it. Are these crucial? Do I need these programs to use my webcam during, say, IM conversations? Thanks.

Hi right lets do your questions one at a time. if you know the make and model of your webcam you can go to the site , find the model and download the drivers for it, start onto your laptop.
It seems as if your files for your webcam are corrupted this can happen when there is one driver on top of another, so it needs to all come uninstalled.

If you go to search and put in the name of your webcam anything with that name will come up,

MAKE A NOT OF WHAT THEY ARE AND IF THERE IS ONLY ONE OF THEM THEN LEAVE IT. go to next if you have for instants 5 with same name and file no just leave one once you only have one on there of each do a systems restore creating a restore point. clear computer of rubbish bu doing a disk cleanup dewfrag then reconnect your webcam and see if problem still there if so then run search again.
IF clear and it work then ok.

hi go to the website of the supplier of your webcam, find the model of it click on downloads scroll to drivers and that is where you should find the drivers for your webcam.

to see if you have systems restore on your comuter, go to start, programs, accessories, systems tools and it should be listed there if it is, click on it then click in box to activate it, you should then find your systems restore now works.

Sorry. I was unclear with both my questions.

Where do I find the list of drivers that are already installed on my computer? I found the .zip file online with the drivers I need for the cam, but I haven't downloaded it yet. How can I tell if I have duplicate drivers if I can't find where they're listed on my computer?

I know where system restore is on my machine, and how to use it... but the past few times that I've tried to restore to a previous point, it restarts and says that it failed. I haven't gotten it to work in a very long time.

Go to Start > Search > All files and folders and follow the dons advice

When you download your drivers if they are on there the wizard will find them, don't forget to unplug your webcam and install it when told otherwise it wont install properly.
Ok look in restore point over last 2 days and see if a restore point has been created if not create one yourself. ok get back to me either way.
Myself and bookworm always try and help one another.

Hmm, okay. I have a Dynex PC Web Camera WXWC100, but on the Dynex site, it only has drivers for the WC-100 and WC-101 cameras. Mine, obviously, is a WXWC100. The different between mine and the other two, I think, is that mine has a snapshot button, and possibly a higher fps. ..Help?

It's confusing but they only do 2 web cameras, when you search the WXWC100 it takes you to the DX-C100 camera, but the drivers for both these cameras are the same, so download from here and install, Create a System Restore point firdt just in case.
