Problems with USB Hard Drive

I have a USB Hard drive enclosure (generic), that I recently put a 6.7gb HDD into.

Problem is, I forgot to format it before hand (IIRC, the partition on it is ext3), and windows doesn't recognize it.

I've tried partition magic, but when the USB drive is powered, Partition Magic crashes.

Is there a way, in XP, to format a drive that doesn't show up in My Computers? (sorry, not very familar with Windows). I think I'm looking for something like fdisk (XP doesn't come with it though, right? :/) that can format a USB drive.

Try going into Disk Managment see if it shows up there. It Would be in control Panel, Administrative tools, Computer Managment, Storage, Disk Management.
It Should be there if it is at all recognized as a Drive. then you can attempt to format it from there.

Hope this helps. if it does not help, you might have to take it out of the enclosure, and plug it in directly into the machine. internally, and fdisk it from a dos prompt via a boot disk.
