Angry Microft XP Pro 16bit ERROR

Ok I need a solution to this problem because I'm stumped. Everytime I open a program I get a screen that pops up named "RUN AS" and it gives me the question of : Which user account would you like to use to run this program?. Then it gives the following options : Current User and then u have the option of checking the box saying PROTECT MY COMPUTER AND DATA FROM UNAUTHORIZED PROGRAM ACTIVITY or (The following users) which u can select a users profile.

The other weird thing is that I get a 16bit Windows Subsystem error. It reads : C:\Windows\System32\Config.NT. The system file is not suitable for running MS-Dos and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose "close" to terminate the application. And you either get the option of close or ignore.

These two problems have hindered the use of many programs along with WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER. What can I do to fix it.

Do I copy over the config.NT file. Cause I'm stumped.

XP is a 32-bit system. To run an older (16-bit) program in XP use Compatibility Mode.

Right-click the shortcut icon and choose Properties, and then click the Compatibility tab. Check the Run This Program Using Compatibility Mode box, and choose one of the four available operating systems: Windows 95, Windows 98/Windows Me, Windows NT 4.0 (Service Pack 5), or Windows 2000. Use the Display Settings options at the bottom of the dialog box to deal with programs that have video problems when run at higher resolutions and color depths.

Also, to use the Program Compatibility Wizard, open the All Programs menu and then click Accessories. Click the program shortcut to launch the wizard and follow its step-by-step instructions. This is the only way to adjust compatibility settings on programs that are on removable media (including CDs) or on shared network drives.

Ya i figured out the compatibility thing but that does not solve the problem of getting the CONFIG.NT error every time I open certain programs. I believe this started happening after I got this yahaa.exe virus. So now I cannot access media player or some other programs which give me a CONFIG.NT error. Do you guyz know of any solutions????
