Windows Validation Trick
this is for testing purposes only!
To by-pass the windows validation please take these three steps:
step 1 - click on tools within internet explorer
step 2 - click on manage add-ons within the tool menu
step 3 - when you click on manage add-ons it will open a window within window. you will find all the managed add-ons within internet explorer the main one you need is windows genuine advantage. click on this and disable it
thats all you need to do...... now you can go do your windows updates!!
please add any other comments or any other testing ideas
""Thanks to the people that are agreeing with me. That its only information,
and to the people that don't like it, well what can i say. thats life.""
OK; For the people how have a genuine copy of windows xp.
If you need to reinstall your computer, and would not like to go through all the validation again then copy this file "Windows Genuine Advantage"
This can be found at "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data"
Reinstall your computer and copy the file back to "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data"
All working fine... and like i said before its only information!!!

Hi you are telling people who have pirated versions of windows how to get free updates, and all the other office updates, that us do have genuine windows cd's have paid good money for. I hope someone from microsoft see this log and traces you, and takes you to court you are worse than the hackers, you cause us a lot of problems, if this thread is still on here when i know for a fact that a microsoft rep does come on line, then i hope he finds it or someone points him towards it.

A bit strong thedon57 IMO
This has to be the sixth work around i have seen now, the first one being a simple line of java script that was released within hours of WGA going live.
happybraker isn't asking people to download or use pirated software. Some people do not like the thought of M$ taking an inventory of their system, or even looking at their system.
IMO M$ have failed miserably with this latest 'security' fix. There will be a few red faces in the M$ camp later today.
PS. The WGA program only applies to automatic updates as far as i can tell. People can still go to the M$ site and manually download updates if their software failed the WGA.

Why have you not got genuine then, because you look at it and read it, and at mo my friend who works for microsoft has already seen it he found it before me, and he will let the Redmond office know tomorrow.

Whoooooaaaa........ Hold on a minute! I hope your no insinuating that i am using pirated software thedon57
All my systems have passed the WGA test thank you
So your friend/member of the forum is going to go to Redmond tomorrow and report someone for changing their settings? These are settings that are built in to XP. All happybraker has done is changed them.
I'll think twice before changing my screen resolution next time

It's not the changing of settings he was up tight about its if some one has pirated windows xp, and they get hold of it to use. What he should of done was not put it on the forum but in a private post.

I can see where your coming from thedon57 but this is a public forum and happybraker has only shown people how to change a setting to their advantage.
I'm not going to get in to a slanging match with you but there is no way M$ can do anything about what happybraker has posted. If it works M$ will just have to make a patch to counter it

Check it out , I took this post and posted it onto another forum site which at the beginning of my post I said if I have broken the rules to have it remove , which they did and mention that I shouldn't of when in that direction , I said cool , no problem and that I wasn't thinking ( sorry ), Okay now for the strange part just 3 or 4 hour before that post I bought a new dvd rom drive and the installation when okay until after about an hour after that post I when to reboot and got a screen that mention because i had made hardware change that I need to activate my windows with 3 days , I thought this is odd my windows has been activated already , why would a hardware change make any different ? Any ways so I reactivated my windows again which it now it is activated again for the second time , My thoughts were maybe some microsoft rep guy saw my post and is doing some investigation now on my computer , My thoughts are I hope so , I love to see a microsoft guy knock on my door or who ever they are so i can spit on his face and show him my bill a sale for my license copy of windows xp pro , remember this isn't the user's fault because of this hole that allow you to disable it , its their fault , So if anyone should be recieving crap it should all fall on them ...
PS: Now has anyone ever had this sore of problem when adding a new hardware were you need to reactivated windows ?

Yes, I've DEFINITELY had this problem. That's one of the main reasons that i've been searching for another OS that I believe is capable of doing what I want it to do. Microsoft's just getting a little too power hungry. Mhmm.

I have had windows xp since the day it came out, I have done many reformats/hardware changes, I have never seen this activation part come on the screen after it has already been activated before and also because of a hardware change , I would have to agree with you Brian , I mean its no big deal to reactivate but I see it as being bull$~~~ , Thanks for the reply
