Can't watch some videos on Windows Media Player

Hello, I can't watch some videos in Windows Media Player because I get a message that says that a sound driver cant be found on my system or something. And no driver is installed.My question is: Is there any way to watch videos without having a sound driver and/or card installed?

Have you checked the Device Manager to see if there are any conflicts with your drivers (you would see a Yellow !)?
Are all the codecs installed for WMP?
Are you using on board sound/video?
Give your computer specs (Make and model of mobo, ram, cpu, etc.). If you don't know them download Belarc or Everest Home Edition you can get them at www.majorgeeks.com under System Info.

p.s Belarc says 2 Critical Updates missing and no Virus scan done for 30 days, good idea to look into it.

Hi, thanks for the help! But when I try to install the audio driver, I get a message saying that the VIA AC97 Audio Chipset cannot be found on my system. What should I do?

The chipset is shown on the link I gave you, but it also says that with AMD 7 Windows instals the driver. Have you installed another Sound Card, if so this driver from GigaByte will not work. Also sound could be disabled in the BIOS and I am not up on messing with the BIOS. Is your computer Custom made, or from one of the big manufactorers, ie: HP Compac Sony. If so what is the make and model, it could help to check theie website. Have you checked Windpws Update, under Custom Install are there any driver downloads, worth checking. Don't download the chipset untill you post back with answers.

hi,
gigabyte also has an online driver installation.. i forgot what's it called but it functions like windows update.. all you have to do is go to that site, read a couple of lines.. click the button and gigabyte will determined what to install you your system. and you can select what to install...... the drivers will be installed in your pc.
