The firmware is up-to-date. I went ahead & tried to update it anyway, in case it got corrupted somehow, but that didn't help.
Also, I used the XP built-in burning wizard to burn a few miscellaneous files onto a new, blank CD-R. It seemed to burn fine (no error messages). However, the newly-burned disc is acting strangely, too. When I insert the new disc, Windows will only recognize it maybe 20% of the time. When it does recognize it, all the files I burned are there, a-ok. But when it doesn't recognize, it's just like all of my old CD-R's (treats it like there's nothing there). Man, this is strange.

From what I could tell, there are no drivers for my drive (CRW3200EZ). Yamaha relies on Windows to provide the necessary drivers for the device. What model do you have?
