Post Windows question

first hello to everyone on the forum.
I would like to ask a question about my computer first here are my spec's

Hp pavillion 540n
P4 1.6ghz
Windows Xp home
40gig IDE hard drive\
1.25gigs of ram
Msi 5200fx

when I bought the computer (new) it was ok but that was four years ago and now its slow so I decided to upgrade... I found a good deal on a motherboard and cpu
Asus A8V with an AMD 3000 venice cpu new and retail boxed.

So I asked around to friends and a couple of computer stores
and I've had conflicting answers...

My question is this if I replace the Mobo and cpu will I have to buy a new copy of Xp or can I just load up the new drivers.

Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated

Thank you
Coldlife

you'll be OK, you may need to reactivate XP is all, due to the hardware changes, the drivers for the m/board will come with it on disk, preferably do a clean install of XP, because the old drivers may conflict with the new ones.

back up all your important stuff to disk and you'll be fine

Ohhh just noticed, brand name pc, restore disks yeah ??

I dont think they will allow you to use them, they are machine specific, so if you want to leave your old XP install on there you will have to work out the drivers, if you want to do a clean install you will have to buy a copy of XP
