My windows user profile has become corrupt possibly due to low hard disc space on the windows partition.
When i booted and clicked on my login, windows threw up the message about the profile being corrupted, and it will load a default profile...
I panicked, and switched off my machine before it finished loading (overwriting) my profile.
After booting again, I tried a different profile, which holds no important data, and the same message appeared, i let it load the new default profile.
I've been to d:\docs and settings\MY PROFILE and it won't let me access (access denied), this isn't due to access level as all accounts are administrator. The profile folder is reporting as 0 bytes in size, and is classified as 'empty'.
Due to the low disk space before this corruption, windows turned off system restore, so there are no restore points to roll back too.
I cannot perform the procedure as suggested on microsoft's site (creating new profile and copying data from corrupt to new), as I can't access the corrupt profile path due to the reasons above.
Should i let windows load my profile (log on) and let it continue to overwrite with a default one, (which might cause the corrupt folder (d:\documents and settings\MY PROFILE) to become occupied with default profile data? If this does happen, then where is my old profile data.
My documents are on a separate drive, so this is not the issue. My desktop had important files on it that i need, as well as the outlook data files that hold my emails/address book etc, this is what i need! The PST file is not accessible, and i did uninstall office to free up needed disk space, without thinking outlook was part of it!
Apparently the PST files will still be about somewhere, but a search has come back with no results.
