moving files / folders in xp

I have 2 hard drives, C + D on my Dell. When I drag a folder from C to D it copies it to the D drive and leaves the original on the C drive. Does anyone know how I can actually move the folder so that the original is no longer on the C drive? It's a pain to drag the folder to D then have to go back to C and delete it!

Right click on the folder to be moved and select "Cut" from the context menu, then right click in the destination folder and select "Paste".
