Problem installing vb6 application on XP

I have an application (Front end VB6 and back end MSaccess) which installs on most windows OS (win 98,win2000,win Me). While loading on some machines ( on win xp pro), the application will not install. On installing sysyem says "Some of the windows files are not updated. Restart the computer to update the files" . After booting the system, again the same story repeats.
Though I have been able to load the application on XP pro on some other computer, but on laptops ( with XP pro), the above problem comes. Could there be a problem of some specific service pack etc.

Regards

I do not know since the installation was carried out by customer himself.

If it is important to know, I can find it out.

In parenthesis it should state SP2. If it's ver. 5.1 I'm assuming you have XP SP2. BTW do you have JVM(Java Virtual Machine)installed? MS no longer provides this so you have to download it from www.java.sun.com. See if this will help.
