machine will not reset to a previoius state or correct itself by using
any other available selections. All those selections result with a rebooting
machine.
So I do a reinstall by reformatting the drive and start reinstalling.
Well at least I am back on line with all those headachs
so what going on and how do I avoid those kind of
problems in the future. Is there a way to create
a back up to avoid such a mess when adding windows xp components
Now I am ready to reinstall VS.net 2002 but mentions a proceedure for installing
internet services. Is there a way to avoid XP rebooting and install that
component????

You can backup useing windows backup facility, but you need a media to backup to such as a removable HD, Windows does not allow backup to disk. To backup to disk you would need a programe like Norton Ghost.
