How do I change the I/O range for a hardware device in XP?

I am trying to change the I/O range in device manager for my game controller to another value so that it will work. But it won't let me even if I go into safe mode. I am using a sound blaster live sound card and the game controller is always assigned the wrong I/O range, the range should be 0200-0207. I tried putting it in different PCI slot, but the problem persist, that's why my gravis gamepad is showing 'not connected'.

Sound Blaster is a real resource hog. Do you know if you have enough RAM? Your range may be limited because the rest of your computer's resources are being used by other things. Without knowing all that you have in your machine, it's difficult to determine if the exact cause.
