Floppy drive problem in win xp

Hi has anyone else had a prob reading/writing to the floppy drive in win xp...I have several machines and two seem to be affected. the drive will boot from the floppy before xp is installed its driving me up the wall am i missing something simple any ideas
the floppy works ok pre xp but after xp is installed on 2 of my machines one of them brand new, the floppy drive wont read or write to a floppy disk. sometimes gives error the disk needs formatting....but then wont let me format it either but on the other machines they are fine so no prob with disks...its a really strange one this especially as it affects 2 seperate machines but not the other 2

Same problem here!!

I tried freaking everything before I finally just SWAPPED THE FLOPPY.

Did the trick......no more "Cannot read from the device" or "The disk you inserted is not formatted. Do you want to format it now?" type crap!

It sounds strange that 2 drives on 2 different systems are being effected but I don't know.

For the price of a floppy drive it is worth a shot and paid off for me!

Thank for the reply its got to be worth a try but just seems strange that its two drives with the exact same problem and one is brand new. watch this space LOL
