No System 32 Folder, help needed/advice

Hey all,
A program recently locked up, as per usual, so i ctrl/alt/del'ed to stop its process, but no menu came up, hit CAD a few more times, no menu.

I was a bit confused after i got the program closed as to why it didnt come up. I tried it a few more times, and nothing. Shut down/restart, try again, nothing.

I ventured into windows, sifted through to check everything looked right... hold on.... System32 folder is not there

Nothing else is not working, just ctrl/alt/del, but its a bit of a mystery as to where my sys32 folder went!

(i have virus protection, and it comes up negative to any viruses).

Any help/advice welcome.

Ben

EDIT: Just read the sticky and:

1) Version of XP - XP 5.1, build 2600
2) Hardware setup - Pentium 4 (3.0gHz), 1024megs RAM, nvidia 5700, P4 Titan 865PE mobo.
5) Any antivirus, firewall software you are running - mcaffee antivirus, windows firewall (custom), and mcaffee firewall.

Have you tried a system restore, if that does not work try the solution below.

If you have a Win XP cd try a System File Check
Go to Run / type "sfc /scannow" ( without thw quotes and note the space after sfc ) have your Win XP cd available in case sfc needs to repair or replace missing files.

Hope this helps
