Hi I recently reformatted my Dell Dimension 4600 Windows Xp desktop, and found that there was a missing multimedia audio driver (with a yellow exclamation mark by it). So i went onto the dell website and downloaded the ADI 198x driver recommended for my system. It worked fine for a bit until i turn the sound up loud or load other programs whilst playing music, and it goes scratchy and skips. I am not sure what to do now, do I have the wrong driver? I dont know what motherboard I have, but here are my belerc stats.

My radio jacks are in the top of the tower (by the keyboard and mouse)

Please Please Please help. I really miss my music, and I am at a loss at what to do. You seem like you are the right person to come to.

Re: "All with the "Yellow Monster""

I had the same problem, followed this thread for a couple days and found no solution on my neophyte level of 'puter skills but here is the one i found. It costs $30.00 USD and was well worth the money to save me from "headaching." drivershq.com btw its a one time charge with unlimited access.

~~~~~ Kudos to barbara ~~~~~
Sis 7012 problem again
Dear bookworm,
May I ask your help please, I'm kinda getting desperated about this. have to reinstall the windows xp, and things happen like most of everyone had here ...
Belarc advisor said :
Operating systems:
Windows XP Professional (build 2600)
Processors :
2.67 gigahertz Intel Pentium 4
16 kilobyte primary memory cache
1024 kilobyte secondary memory cache
Board: SiS-661GX
Bus Clock: 133 megahertz
BIOS: Phoenix Technologies, LTD 6.00 PG 05/20/2005
Bus Adapters :
A347SCSI SCSI Controller
SiS 7001 PCI to USB Open Host Controller (3x)
SiS 7002 USB 2.0 Enhanced Host Controller
Multimedia:
Multimedia Audio Controller (?? doesn't specify any model, just these words)
I've checked the Sis website and check their online driver analyst, and I think they mention that I have Sis Pci 7012 audio onboard on my SiS-661GX motherboard.
I've downloaded the Sis 7012 audio driver (a12112d), and like someone said before, around 10% in installment and suddenly it said :
the name is already in use as either a service name or a service display name
fail to install audio driver for windows xp, setup will now exit
and that's that.....
Now, what should I do??
I've tried to uninstall in the device manager, restart many times, turn on and off the pci audio in the bios onboard set up with no avail ....
Hope you have some knowledges in this
Thank you very much for your time and effort, I'd really appreciated what you'd have done on this board all this time.
kind regards,
Rudy
Red face
So I completely reformatted my computer without knowing that I need to reinstall a sound mixer/driver (as you can see, I'm very new to this). I read some of this thread so I thought someone can help me find the right driver.
Belarc info:
Operating System:
Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 (build 2600)
System Model:
Mind Computer Products
Processor:
2.15 gigahertz AMD Athlon XP
128 kilobyte primary memory cache
512 kilobyte secondary memory cache
Main Circuit Board:
Board: ASUSTeK Computer INC. A7V8X-X REV 1.xx
Bus Clock: 166 megahertz
BIOS: Award Software, Inc. ASUS A7V8X-X ACPI BIOS Revision 1006 08/06/2003
I tried the Realtek ac'97 one but it also caused my pc to crash when I'm trying to install. Please any help is greatly appreciated
Look at that chipset board, 2 makers both with different sound drivers ( not SiS) can you get Everest http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/...-Edition.shtml
copy and paste the My Computer/Summary section, it may give use the motherboard info
Hope this helps
