2 different audio drivers, but first go here, they are all SiS boards, this will identify the onboard audio http://www.sis.com/support/support_prodid.htm

Iv'e used this on an SiS board, if the audio is the SiS 7012 audio it will give a link to the driver, if it says it is not an SiS audio then go to ECS and get the C-media driver

To solve my problem I had to go into the BIOS and enable sound.

Hope this helps

hi me again

i've downloaded the sis7012 pci audio driver but there was a problem when installing it. in the middle of installation i got an error saying -536870397 and then it aborted the setup.

i'm pretty sure that's the rite audio driver for my motherboard cause i checked it at the sis.com webpage u sent me to.

if u have any hints on how to install the driver pls help me. appreciate it.

What make and model is your comp, or is it custom built, are you comfortable with haveing a look inside to pin the board down.Look in Control Panel / Add/Remove programes, is SiS audio or C-media audio shown anywhere. Also look at this, you could have a Audio Modem Riser installed
Check Control Panel/ Sound & Audio Devices/ Properties/ Audio tab/ Sound Playback click on down arrow and check that the correct audio is selected. Typically the problem will be they something like "modem line 0 playback" might have been substituted for the proper audio device.

Hope this helps

There you go bookworm, thanks a ton.

Still not giveing the motherboard name, but it's an SiS chipset and audio, go here to SiS http://www.sis.com/support/support_prodid.htm

Iv'e used this myself, it will tell you what chipset and audio driver if they are SiS(which they are) and give the link to download. You have to install an active x to run but it is safe.

Hope this helps
