Hi there. I removed some sortware earlier tonight on my computer. It was all stuff I didn't recognize that I was pretty certain was useless stuff I'd gotten ages ago. Well, when I signed back on the "Safely Remove Hardware" tab showed up on the bottom of my screen. My computer was also detecting new hardware which was, strangely enough, Multimedia Audio Controller. My sound's gone. I hope you can help me. If it's useful, if you "Safely Remove Hardware," all the sound drives magically disappear.
The device manager shows a yellow question mark with an exclamation point. The properties menu states:
This device is not configured correctly. (Code 1)
To reinstall the drivers for this device, click Reinstall Driver.
Clicking reinstall driver leads me nowhere.
This is what I got off Belarc (copy and pasted):

Realtek is the right driver, check Control Panel/ Add Remove / look for Realtek AC'97 audio is installed. Also in Control Panel look at this
Check Control Panel/ Sound & Audio Devices/ Properties/ Audio tab/ Sound Playback click on down arrow and check that the correct audio is selected. Typically the problem will be they something like "modem line 0 playback" might have been substituted for the proper audio device.
are you gtting any error messages
Hope this helps

i tried installing the driver again but its of no use. The audio tab in the control panel shows nothing, and does not provide a drop down list either. In my device manager, under the sound tab, all of them are working 'cept for the multimedia audio controller. Realtek 97 is not shown there anymore. Sorry to bother u guys again ><
